There are openings in all choirs…it’s never too late to be part of music at Holy Trinity! See John Lowe after any service, or call 372-4721 for more information. The Holy Trinity Choir, consisting of professional and volunteer adults, sings at the 10:30 a.m. service throughout the year, as well as major feasts and special events. Anthems sung by the Choir come from many periods, and include Renaissance motets, anthems from the Anglican tradition, and contemporary composers. The Choir has performed major choral works such as Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, and John Rutter’s Mass of the Children.*Rehearsals—Thursdays, 7:30-9:15 p.m. (September-May)The Holy Trinity Choristers program is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCMA), and open to boys and girls in third-eighth grades (children in second grade with exceptional reading skills may be admitted to the Choristers, after a consultation between the Director and parents). Emphasis is placed on the development of music reading skills, teamwork, and the cultivation of a beautiful singing tone, all in a disciplined but engaging environment using the Voice for Life curriculum of the Royal School of Church Music. The Choristers sing monthly in worship, independently and with the Holy Trinity Choir, and in the Gainesville Children’s Choral Festival each spring. Most importantly, the Choristers learn to follow and lead as participants in the worship life of Holy Trinity. *Rehearsals—Sundays, 11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m. (September-May) The Angel Choir, newly formed this year, is open to boys and girls ages four through second grade. This group provides an introduction to singing and leading worship through music for young children. The children are also introduced to the basics of liturgy, as they learn about the life and ministry of Jesus in our celebrations throughout the church year. *Rehearsals—Sundays, 12 noon--12:30 p.m. (September-May) The Folk Choir leads congregational singing at the Sunday 6 p.m. Eucharist. Music at this service comes from many traditions, including folk, contemporary, renewal, and gospel. Instrumentalists accompany the singers on piano, bass, and percussion. Since the group's inception in the mid-1970s, it has been home to people who enjoy singing, playing music, and who enjoy one another's company in the sprit of community. There are no auditions—come to rehearsal before the service. The ability to read music is not necessary. Contact Laura Perry or Doug Johnson for more information. *Rehearsals—Sundays, 5 p.m. (throughout the year) The Holy Trinity Chamber Choir, formerly The Liturgical Choir, sings for selected occasions throughout the year, and is selected by audition. Striving towards choral precision, their performance of Michael Haydn’s Requiem was the first Gainesville performance of this 18th century masterpiece. Arrange your audition through director John Lowe by calling 372-4721.*Rehearsals--arrangedThe Holy Trinity Handbell Choir ring six octaves of handbells. The 12 openings are typically filled in September, or as needed. Participation in the bell choir requires a strong commitment to rehearsals and the ability to read rhythm. High-schoolers and adults are welcome.*Rehearsals—Thursdays, 6:15-7:15 p.m. (September-May) Instrumentalists are involved frequently, in solo and ensemble, in worship throughout the year.
