Annual Stewardship at Holy Trinity

Stewardship is so much more than filling out a pledge card and dropping a check in the plate. Scripture, tradition and reason all require that we return a portion of our blessings to God’s work.

Many parishioners ask how much they should give. A spiritually healthy way to think about your annual gift is to pray about it, pick a percentage of your income and begin there. Scripture sets a standard of ten percent (a “tithe”) and while we do have parishioners who are doing exactly that, we recognize not everyone is able to make such a commitment.

Ask you financial adviser about using your Required Minimum Distribution(RMD) from your IRA toward your pledge you could to meet your RMD requirements without adding to your taxable income.

What is most important is that we all remember the scriptural admonishment repeated in our liturgy, “All things come of thee, O Lord, and of thine own have we given thee.”

We actively encourage parishioners to remember Holy Trinity in their estate planning. The Book of Common Prayer admonishes each of us to plan for the inevitable:

“The Minister of the Congregation is directed to instruct the people, from time to time, about the duty of Christian parents to make prudent provision for the well-being of their families, and of all persons to make wills, while they are in health, arranging for the disposal of their temporal goods, not neglecting, if they are able, to leave bequests for religious and charitable uses.” - Book of Common Prayer p. 445
