LIFE IN CHRIST

Life was in him, and this life was the light of the human race.

John 1:4
New Testament for Everyone

Love was a matter of life and death for Jesus.

Christ Jesus said:

“I came to give life — life in all its fullness.”

And that he did, for part of God’s love agenda was to rescue humankind held hostage by sin’s fallout, death.

Threatened by Jesus’ vision and values, the powers that be killed him on a cross. But that didn’t spell his defeat! Since he was the mortal man who embodied the everliving God — “who alone can never die” — his plunge into death short-circuited its power. Jesus rose from death, breaking its grip on us human siblings of his too!

Risen and alive, Jesus tells us:

“Do not be afraid.... I was dead, but now I am alive forevermore, and I hold the keys to death…”

What encouraging hope that gives us here at Holy Trinity!

Jesus shares this “forever life” of his with us through two means of his making: baptism and the eucharist.
